Rehab Reunion- 2013 UT Southwestern Medical Center Inpatient Rehabilitation

11-7-13 Reunited with patients and staff to celebrate our rehab accomplishments

Dear UT Southwestern Staff,

Words cannot express my appreciation for the wonderful care I received at UT Southwestern.  The entire staffing was professional and friendly to be around, special thanks to my physical therapist (Edward Cruz) for supporting me during a life changing event, your expertise made it easier for me to continue pushing myself once I left the hospital.

Thank you again.

Embrace your challenges

"Life is difficult, This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because once we truly see the truth, we transcend it.  Once we truly know that life is difficult-once we truly understand and accept it-then life is no longer difficult.  Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters." - M. Scott Peck

Flint Hills Job Corps Center, Speaking Engagement

9-30-13 Speaking Engagement

I would like to thank Gary Vesta, Center Director at Flint Hills Job Corps Center in Kansas, for asking whether I would be interested in speaking to students regarding life, difficult times, and keeping a positive attitude to overcome difficult situations.  I worked with Gary at FHJCC back in 92'-94' as a recreational advisor before returning back to my hometown, Garland TX.

The goal of this engagement was to help inspire a "You Can" attitude.  My intent was to encourage students and let them know that they can accomplish whatever they want to accomplish in life and on the job.  Everything is a process and they should hang in there as they learn their crafts and skills.

It was an honor and I am blown away at the thought of having an opportunity to help kids.  I'm excited that I might have a chance to give with hopes of changing a kid's life in a positive way.

Frank V. Bergman Elementary School, Speaking Engagement

9-30-13 Speaking Engagement

I would like to thank Lori Martin, principle of Frank V. Bergman Elementary School, for giving me my 1st speaking engagement with  5th & 6th graders. The purpose of  this engagement was "To Encourage and Motivate". My intent was to encourage children to respect one another, pay attention to their parents, work hard  and at the end of the day have fun.

It was a wonderful experience, to share my successes from sports, coaching and work to navigate my present challenge.
